Olivia Home JAGERI:

The Olivia Home in Jageri was built and equipped to receive disabled children from one year old and above. The Home, in terms of its floorplan, looks most like a family home, characterised by a warm and relaxed atmosphere, where every child feels welcome.  It is situated in the countryside, away from all the hustle, bustle and pollution.  The children can spend all day outdoors. In the courtyard we designed a sun, one ray for each child at Olivia Home.

WHERE DO THE CHILDREN COME FROM ?

The children are all, except for Joseph and Keeran, abandoned children from birth or as soon as the disease or the handicap is discovered. They are brought to Olivia Home through various organizations such the Juvenile Welfare, Women & Child welfare, private orphanages, hospitals or even brought by the police.

WHICH FUTURE CAN WE ASSURE THEM ?

When a child comes to our home, firstly we give it some time to adjust with its new family members and the new environment. Then if the child doesnt have any medical record, we take it to a paediatrician. Most children dont have any identity, often the age given is only approximate. In this case we give the child a date of birth corresponding to the year of its birth and its arrival day to Olivia Home.

Olivia Home is not geared with specialized equipment and staff to give therapeutic treatments and training to the employees. The children are checked by paediatricians from Kollegal. However, for all specialized treatments such as physiotherapy and psychotherapy, we have to take the children to Mysore or Bangalore, where they have to stay at the time of the treatment. We still dont have a permanent accommodation where to live during the time of the treatments.
