WELCOME

JEEVAN JYOTHI TRUST

  • The Jeevan Jyothi Trust (JJT) is a registered Public Charitable Trust working for the welfare of children with disabilities and down trodden people in the areas of social, economic, education and health. The Trust was registered in the year 1999 under the Indian Trust Act.

  • JJT was recognized by the Child Welfare Departments of Karnataka Government as Fit Person Institution.

Main activities & its Beneficiaries:

  • JJT has built in 2000 a Home in Jageri to shelter 10/15 infants and children with disabilities. In 2005 JJT extended its projects with opening a Rehabilitation Centre in Kollegal to enable the Trust to give shelter and medical health facilities to the Trust children with severe disabilities.

  • The major beneficiaries group includes all type of disabilities like Children affected with Cerebral Palsy, Hearing loss, Mentally challenged, Visually impaired, with Speech problems, children with Loco-motor challenges. Children were registered below 10 years of age. They are abandoned children or coming from very poor families. JJT records today 30 children. Out of these 30 children 19 are handicapped, 11 children are able-bodied orphans.

  • At present JJT doesn’t accept to take children affected with HIV and AIDS, because of lack of spaces in the actual premises, adequate devoted staff, distances of all health commodities and rejection from local medical corps to care for these types of children. Trust will surely have to revise their objectives. It’s a matter of fact that this bane affects daily incalculable number of new cases which are uncared-for.

Other activities:

Health: Health is a great part of the Trust challenge because most of children require a constant health care and rehabilitation therapies. Such therapies are administered whenever needed with active participation of the children/youngsters in a playful way while using the playground. This help in correcting and improvising the mobility of either meningitis-affected and spastic and post-operated children.

Education: Children physically challenged and children being orphaned by one parent, Mother or Father, attend the best local English medium Schools and beside to be special children they come home with 1st class marks. They are sheltered in the newly started Boarding Home which was created inside the Rehab Centre Kollegal. The JJT educates at present 22 school going children. Out of 22 children, 16 children are coming from a poor background and remote villages. The challenge of the Trust is to model the education in a way child will get a good leadership in a healthy and a true spiritual environment enables him/her to become a strong pillar of the Society. The extra curricular program encloses classic dance and karate outside the Institution.

Employment: Devoted and caring staffs are given hostel-care taking responsibilities. From the creation of the Trust, the mission was to give social status to rural women through carrying out educational and job-oriented vocational training courses. The Trust goals are to generate employment for local people, predominantly women. JJT employ actually 27 persons for the good running of the Institution, all are from rural areas. Out of these 27 persons, (13 are Hindus of which 6 from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST), 13 Christians and 1 Muslim.

Jeevan Jyothi Trust vision and hope:

For a disabled person, or an orphaned the crucial aspect is gaining independence and respect of the Society at large and to get trained for a vocation, to be able to earn livelihood. Handicapped women may experience special psychological problems. They may become depressed because their disability makes them different from most people.

Our vision: the core objective became: rehabilitating the disabled and the orphaned giving them equal opportunities of learning and good physical condition to be skilled to get occupation with responsibilities thus being remunerated as every human being.

Our hope: to be able to accept yearly new poor and needy children coming from wherever poverty suffocate the human race, giving as many as possible full time jobs to women with physical disabilities.
